Project Description

About Brookside Ridge Preserve

Hours: Dawn to Dusk

The trail system offers a loop walk and connections to many trails on this beautiful wooded property. The Stephen R. Crampton Trail is a ¾ mile trail that connects the MVLB Tiasquam preserve to South Road. The trail is dedicated to Steve Crampton, who served as President of Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation from 2006 to 2008 and on the Board of Directors from 2002 to 2008.  Steve led Sheriff’s Meadow through a critical time in its history and was a strong proponent of trails.

Brookside Ridge Preserve comprises land given to Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation by Wendy Gimbel and Douglas Liebhafsky, Stan Panitz, and Jerome and Carol Kenney, who donated a portion of the property known also as the “Mayhew Preserve.” The Stephen R. Crampton Trail and the Preserve’s other trails offer loop walks through magnificent beech groves, vigorous rambles over glacial ridges, and connections to other conservation lands and ancient ways.

The creation of the Stephen R. Crampton trail was made possible through a generous grant from Michael Berwind. The trail is open from dawn to dusk.
