Project Description

About Packard Preserve

Hours: Dawn to Dusk

Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation was very fortunate in 1982 to receive a splendid gift of land from Vance and Virginia Packard of New Canaan, Connecticut. These 6.7 acres on Chappaquiddick include a walking trail that leads from Pocha Road to a grand, scenic overlook atop Katama Bay. The public is welcome and invited to enjoy the Packard Preserve and its beautiful views.

DIRECTIONS

Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation thanks the Martha’s Vineyard land bank commission for allowing visitors to the Packard Preserve to park automobiles at the old Poucha Pond Reservation trailhead just off the Chappaquiddick Road. This trailhead may be found 3.8 miles from the ferry slip, on the left.  From “Blow Your Bugle” it is ½ mile to this trailhead. Once parked, simply walk up the driveway, cross the Chappaquiddick Road and the Packard Preserve trail will be directly in front of you.
