Volunteer

Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation is most grateful to have the help of many dedicated and generous volunteers. In fact, we can accomplish what we do only because of our volunteers. We currently offer the volunteer activities that are described below. If you are interested in of these opportunities, or if you have a different idea for volunteering, please contact us and let us know.

Office Work

Office Help
Provide office support by answering phones, filing and assisting with general projects.

Database
Update database with address changes and other information. Assistance may be manual or computerized. Computer help will require experience, some Sheriff’s Meadow training and a time commitment. Adherence to Sheriff’s Meadow’s donor privacy policy and general confidentiality required.

Mailing parties
Help with 3-4 mailings per year. Work with a fun and interesting group to fold, stuff and seal newsletters and appeals. Refreshments provided.

Special Events
Assist with promotion, setup, coordinating, hosting, and clean up of summer events, large and small. Annual summer fundraiser party, 2-4 Henry Beetle Hough Society guided walks and several smaller gatherings throughout the year.

Field Work

Trail Work
Work with the Property Management team to maintain walking trails and create new ones. Volunteers are needed to help with trail blazing, mowing, trimming and other routine maintenance 4-8 hours per week on an occasional or regular basis.

Work Days
Volunteers wanted to help with planting native vegetation, control of invasive species and other sanctuary restoration projects around the island for 3-4 hours at a time on an irregular basis. This is very physical work that can be hot, dirty and tiring, but ultimately very rewarding.
