Project Description
About Little Beach
Hours: Dawn – Dusk
The sweeping, sandy spit of sand that makes Little Beach also creates Eel Pond. Little Beach is a 10 acre property, whose boundaries are constantly shifting with the sand. The property consists of a sandy beach on Nantucket Sound, the shoreline of much of Eel Pond, and several acres of salt marsh. Little Beach directly abuts Ox Pond Meadow, and is conserved because Robert and Josephine Brown generously donated the land to Sheriff’s Meadow. Little Beach hosts a number of birds that are listed as threatened, endangered or of special concern in Massachusetts, including the roseate tern, common tern, least tern and the piping plover. The public is welcome and invited to enjoy Little Beach for walking, beachcombing, birdwatching, angling and swimming in Nantucket Sound. Little Beach is accessed via Fuller Street Beach.
Note: Access is restricted during shorebird nesting season from April 1- August 1st.
DIRECTIONS
Little Beach may be reached via Fuller Street Beach. Parking is available on Fuller Street on the right as one heads toward the sea.
