More than a dozen sites from the African-American Heritage were added to the TrailsMV app in February. The African-American Heritage Trail of Martha’s Vineyard is a nonprofit community history organization dedicated to restoring, re- searching, and celebrating the history of African-American people on the Island. The new outing on TrailsMV features 14 of the trail’s 31 sites, several in close proximity to walking trails on public conservation lands.

“We’re pleased to be able to feature this important project,” said Adam Moore. “The African-American Heritage Trail members have worked for years to research contributions made by people of African descent to the history of the Island, and we’re honored to share them with TrailsMV users.”

The African-American Heritage Trail sites are spread across the Island and are not intended as a walking route. The group offers guided driving tours of the entire trail and its 31 sites. Click her for more information.

The TrailsMV hiking and biking app is free at the Apple app store and at Google . To properly display the African-American Heritage Trail as an outing on the app, it’s recommend-ed that users reload the TrailsMV app on their mobile device to ensure that the latest version of the app is installed.
