On May 21, 2022, Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation dedicated the blue trail at Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary to honor longtime SMF Property Manager Bill Bridwell. At the dedication, SMF Executive Director Adam Moore said:

“Bill is perhaps the kindest, friendliest person that I know. He always has a cheerful word to share with others. He has a great sense of humor and a quick, yet gentle, wit. He always makes people feel welcome. Bill, you have spent decades of your life, caring for the Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation conservation lands across the entire island of Martha’s Vineyard.

You have been the greatest ambassador for Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation. You have patiently explained our work to our neighbors and to the public, and always in a polite and professional manner, even in difficult circumstances.  You have worked incredibly hard, outdoors, mowing fields, building bridges, pulling weeds, trimming trails, helping others – and always with a smile. And you have always cared for me and others here on the Sheriff’s Meadow team, with a pat on the back when times are hard, and with good cheer when times are good. I am grateful to know you and honored to have worked with you.

The trail we are about to dedicate will always bear your name, and for generations to come, people will look out from these heights, and gaze out upon Aquinnah, and the Gay Head Light, and Cuttyhunk and Nashawena and Naushon – and think about you.

Whereas,

Bill Bridwell first lent a helping hand to Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation after Hurricane Bob in 1991, and

Congratulations, Bill!
