Education Overview
At Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation, education plays a vital role in our work to protect and steward the natural landscapes of Martha’s Vineyard. Through hands-on programs, guided walks, and immersive outdoor experiences, we connect learners of all ages with the island’s rich ecological heritage. Whether in a classroom, on a trail, or at one of our preserves, we strive to inspire curiosity, foster environmental awareness, and cultivate the next generation of conservationists.
Field Trips
Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation welcomes school groups, scout troops, camps, and other youth organizations to explore the natural beauty and ecological diversity of our sanctuaries through guided field trips. Led by experienced staff, these outings offer students hands-on learning experiences in habitats ranging from woodlands to coastal dunes. In addition to trail-based programs, we also offer field trips to the historic Hancock-Mitchell House on Quansoo Farm, where students can step back in time and connect with the Island’s cultural heritage. We encourage educators and group leaders to contact us to plan and schedule their visit. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, please review our Public Use Policy before your trip. Whether you’re looking to complement classroom learning or simply spark a love of the outdoors, we’re here to help tailor a memorable field experience for your group.
