Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation is delighted to announce that Dr. Thomas Hallahan has joined the staff as the Senior Director for Administration, Advancement, and Finance. Hallahan will oversee the organizational details of the land trust. He will be working closely with SMF Executive Director, Adam Moore, as well as the organization’s Board of Directors and donors.

“The Vineyard has seen a lot of changes over the past few decades and faces unforeseen challenges, and I am delighted to be joining the talented team at Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation who are committed to preserving the Island’s natural beauty and resources through conservation while helping to find ways to make these properties accessible to all,” said Hallahan.

Hallahan, who recently returned to the Vineyard from an academic position in Iraq, served as the Executive Director of Hospice of MV from 2016-2021. Prior to that, he was a professor at Salem State University, teaching courses in communication sciences & disorders, inclusive education, education policy, and social justice. Throughout his career, Hallahan has taken an active role working on education policy, program development, healthcare initiatives, and the educational and civil rights of individuals with disabilities. He is the recipient of a CASE Fellowship from Harvard University and a Fulbright Scholar Award to the University of Jordan.

“Tom knows the Island community very well, and we are fortunate that he will bring his knowledge to Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation. From his work as the Executive Director of Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, to his service on various local Boards and Commissions, to his work decades ago at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, Tom has gained a wealth of experience that will be so helpful to us at Sheriff’s Meadow,” said Adam Moore.
