MV Water Trails
Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation has partnered with the Town of Tisbury’s Open Space and Recreation Committee and the Martha’s Vineyard Commission to establish a water trail on Lake Tashmoo. This is envisioned as the first of many such trails across the island. This trail features numbered locations where the public can land kayaks, canoes, or similar paddle boats to explore the surrounding area. A detailed map and information for Lake Tashmoo is available through a Storymap, accessible via the link below or directly through the Excursions tab on the TrailsMV app
Note: internet access is required to utilize the StoryMaps
The Tisbury Water Trails were made possible through funding from the Community Preservation Act.
Lake Tashmoo
Enjoy paddling around the shores of Lake Tashmoo, a large lake in Tisbury with access to Vineyard Sound. The provided link will lead you to a map with numbered stops, each offering details on what the spot provides. Lake Street is the recommended launch point for this route. The stops are numbered in a clockwise order, but you are welcome to plan your own route or follow the 4.1 miles route as mapped. Please note that many stops are only accessible by water. Remember to take all trash with you. Overnight storage of kayaks and canoes is only permitted at specific locations after obtaining the necessary permission.
