Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation cares for lands of great natural beauty. Over the past several days, I have reflected upon our role as steward of these lands, and on Mary Oliver’s statement. Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation must ensure that its work is worthy of the beauty of the Martha’s Vineyard landscape.
We unequivocally condemn prejudice, bigotry, and police brutality. We will ensure that our organization embraces diversity and reflects the island community that we serve. We will make certain that our lands are always truly sanctuaries, places of warmth and inclusion, welcoming for all to freely enjoy.
And I believe that we must listen. In a spirit of humility, I pledge to strive that our work may be worthy of this beauty.
